*Beginning February 17, 2016, the Tax Department will close at 3:00pm on the first and third Wednesday of each month due to Mayor's Court.


As per Ohio law (ORC  718.27), the Village of St. Bernard’s interest rate, beginning January 1, 2016, will be 5% per annum on all unpaid income tax, unpaid estimated income tax, and unpaid withholding tax.

The Ohio State Legislature has mandated several changes to municipal tax laws beginning in 2016.  Please click the announcement below for important updates concerning the 2015 filing season.

New for 2016:  All refund requests MUST include a St. Bernard return and a copy of the first page of your Federal Form 1040. 

Tax Rate: The Village of St. Bernard has an Earnings Tax of 2.1% that applies to all who live, work, operate a business within or do business in the Village of St. Bernard. This tax must be paid to the Village of St. Bernard for all persons 18 years of age or older regardless of income.

Property Taxes:

The collection of property taxes (whether it is for residential property or business property) are the responsibility of Hamilton County. The Village of St. Bernard Tax Department does not collect property tax dollars from Village residents or businesses.

School District:

The Village of St. Bernard is within the St. Bernard / Elmwood Place School District. The code for the St. Bernard / Elmwood Place School District for state income tax form purposes is 3119.

Who Must File?

  • The Village of St. Bernard has mandatory filing requirements. All Village of St. Bernard residents, 18 years of age or older, are required to file an annual St. Bernard income tax return even if no tax is due.
  • All non-residents with income earned within St. Bernard or with income taxable to the Village of St. Bernard that is not fully withheld by an employer are required to file a St. Bernard income tax return.
  • All non-residents engaged in a business within the Village of St. Bernard who have sales, services performed or rental property must file a tax return whether or not tax is due.
  • All entities operating a business within or doing business within the Village of St. Bernard must file an annual St. Bernard income tax return on net profits/losses.
